Watch: Queen Square Radiosurgery Processes Revealed
A new video produced in collaboration between Queen Square Radiotherapy Centre and Elekta highlights the innovative same-day Leksell Gamma Knife radiosurgery pathway delivered at the centre.
Featuring clinicians from the Queen Square Radiosurgery Centre, the video showcases the integrated approach adopted at the Queen Square Radiotherapy Centre, where imaging, treatment planning and Gamma Knife radiosurgery are completed during a single visit.
This streamlined pathway reduces the potential for anatomical changes between imaging and treatment while improving efficiency for both clinicians and patients.
Detail is also given on stereotactic frames and how they support highly precise delivery of radiation. This accuracy allows clinicians to target tumours while minimising exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
The same-day Leksell Gamma Knife radiosurgery pathway is typically an outpatient/day-case procedure, with follow-up scans carried out as appropriate over time.
With imaging, planning and treatment completed in just one visit, the majority of patients are able to return home the same day.
As part of Amethyst Radiotherapy UK and the wider Stingray Healthcare Group, the centre is committed to delivering clinical excellence through advanced technology, collaborative partnerships and innovative models of care.
